Below are 2 simple DNS setup guide for your New Fire TV with 4k Ultra HD & Alexa on Wired broadband or WiFi. (Updated Oct 19, 2015). 1a. Find Router IP on Windows

  1. Open up the program command prompt or run “cmd”
  2. Type “ipconfig” without the quotes and press enter
  3. The IP address from default gateway is most likely the IP address of your router

1b.Find Router IP on OS X

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. ​Go to Network
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Go to TCP/IP – here you will see the routers IP

2a. Change the DNS on the Amazon Fire TV (Wireless)

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select Systems
  3. Select WiFi
  4. Select your WiFi network and forget WiFi network by Pressing the button with 3 lines on your Fire TV remote
  5. Press the select button.
  6. Select your WiFi network.
  7. Enter your WiFi password and Click on Advanced

  8. Find IPv4 address of your router here. Then, enter the first three groups of numbers exactly the same as the IPv4 address of your router. For example your IPv4 address is 192.168.0.4. Your IPv4 address for your Fire TV should be unique i.e. 192.168.0.5. Press Next.
  9. Enter Gateway Address with first 3 groups of numbers exactly same as your IPv4 address of your router and set the last group number to 1. For example, if your IPv4 address is 192.168.0.4. Your Gateway address is 192.168.0.1. Press Next.
  10. Input 24 for the Network Prefix Length and Click Next
  11. Enter 185.37.37.37 for DNS 1
  12. Enter 185.37.39.39 for DNS 2. Press Connect

2b. Change the DNS on the Amazon Fire TV (Wired) – 5 Steps Only

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select System
  3. Select Network (wired)
  4. Select Configure Network
  5. Find IPv4 address of your router here. Then, enter first 3 groups of numbers exactly same as your IPv4 address of your router and then set the last group number to any other number (from 2 – 255) except the last group number of your IPv4 address.  For example your IPv4 address is 192.168.0.4. Your IPv4 address for your Fire TV should be unique i.e. 192.168.0.5. Press Next.
  6. Set prefix length to 24. Press Next.
  7. Enter Gateway Address with first 3 groups of numbers exactly same as your IPv4 address of your router and set the last group number to 1. For example, if your IPv4 address is 192.168.0.4. Your Gateway address is 192.168.0.1. Press Next.
  8. Set DNS 1 to 185.37.37.37. Press Next.
  9. Set DNS 2 to 185.37.39.39. Press Connect.
  10. Remember to click here to login to DNS Service provider site to “Update IP”. Repeat this step every time your modem restarts with new IPv4.
